Lei Lei's 5K and One Mile Memory Walk was formed by Landen and Missy Holmes to honor their memory of their 5-year-old daughter, Leightyn Nan Holmes. On August 6, 2010, Leightyn was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Less than 24 hours later, she went to dance and sing with Jesus. Leightyn's Lifesong has had a profound effect on people's lives since her passing, and this event is a big part of her continuing legacy.
All funds raised by Lei Lei's 5K Run and Memory Walk go to support the While We're Waiting ministry.
A really amazing feature of this race is the One Mile Memory Walk. Bereaved parents (or grandparents,
family members, or friends) have the opportunity to sponsor a section of this mile in memory of a child
or children in Heaven.
Sponsorship of the One Mile Memory Walk is $100, and includes:
-- A sign with the child's name, including a special quote or verse, as well as the child's picture, which will be placed along the memory mile route. This sign cam be taken home with you after the race; and if you live too far away to attend, it will be mailed to you.
-- The child's name will also be included on the back of the race shirt. (Must sponsor by 4/17/19 to get child's name on shirt)
-- One free race shirt. Additional shirts can be purchased by Memory Mile sponsors for just $10.00 each. (Must be registered by 4/17/19 to be guaranteed a shirt.)
-- One free race entry.
If there are additional people in your party who would like to walk in the Memory Mile or run in the 5K, there is a separate registration for that. Please click here to register!!
